Hayden Man Dies In Car Crash

Posted: Updated:
HAYDEN, Idaho - A 55-year-old Hayden man died Thursday morning after deputies say he most likely suffered a medical episode and crashed his van on Government Way.

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office said they responded to the wreck on Government Way near Miles Avenue just after 11:00am. Deputies say they found 55-year-old Michael Poorboy unconscious inside his van off the side of the road. Lifesaving efforts were started on Poorboy and he taken to Kootenai Health, however he passed away.

Deputies say it appears Poorboy suffered a medical emergency when he was driving northbound, causing him to leave the roadway, crash through a wooden fence and hit a tree. Deputies say an autopsy and toxicology tests will be conducted.
