Powell County's Dani Walker and Michele Christnacht: Friends for Life

Posted: Updated:
Griz softball commit Dani Walker played many sports growing up, but she's been playing softball since she was five.

"The one that kind of clicked and the one that I enjoyed the most, is obviously softball because it's awesome," said Dani Walker.

Dani has always played sports with her best friend, Michele.

"My friendship with Michele means the world to me she's been my best friend since I moved here to Montana in the 6th grade. She's just you couldn't stick paper in between us. We're just always together," said Walker.

"We're best friends we've been best friends since she came in sixth grade and threw herself on me," said Michele Christnacht.

Even though softball is not Michele's primary sport, she still supports Dani the whole year.

"When Dani wants to go play for a summer ball team  she'll ask Michele and Michele will go to tournaments she'll jump in there," said Powell County softball coach Cheryl Starr.

"I'd be like Michele come on we're going to play some softball this weekend and she'd be like ok fine but I knew she'd just do it for me and she's always there for me. and same thing with basketball she'd be like Dani let's go pay basketball and I'd be like ok fine. We do it for each other," said Walker.

The two know each other quite well.

"She comes off as a really tough girl but Dani's really a soft person at heart. Every time she hurts someone she starts crying," said Christnacht.

"She's valedictorian so you'd think she'd be pretty smart but sometimes she doesn't know what to do so sometimes in the softball aspect I have to say hey Michele ball's coming this way!" said Walker.

Next Fall Michele will be playing basketball for Rock Mountain College. Will Dani miss her?

"Yes I will miss her. Michele what times practice again? I have to text her all the time. She always lets me know whats up. I don't know how I'm going to live without her," said Walker.
