Ernest Miller Identified as Individual in Friday Standoff

Posted: Updated:
GREAT FALLS - As we we're first to report yesterday, police have confirmed that Ernest Miller was the primary suspect in yesterday's standoff at a mobile home on 20th Avenue South.
Miller is currently facing three felony charges. One count attempted deliberate homicide, criminal endangerment, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police yesterday responded to reports of a home break-in in the early afternoon. When there was no trace of the suspect, a Cascade County Sheriff's Deputy saw Miller walking toward Sunnyside Elementary.   When he attempted to make contact, Miller reportedly ran and fired three shots at the deputy before barricading himself.
After nearly two hours, Miller surrendered to police, and according to police he did have a gun shot wound on his lower abdomen but believe it was self inflicted as no officers fired any shots.
More charges could be coming to Miller as well.
