Senator Walsh Fighting For Minimum Wage Increase

Senator John Walsh is on Capitol Hill fighting to increase the minimum wage for folks here in Montana.  

The new Senator is working creating a piece of legislature that would raise the federal minimum wage rate which would also raise the rate here in the Treasure State. Currently, the federal minimum wage is at seven dollars and twenty-five cents.  Senator Walsh is currently lobbying to increase the rate.  

"In the number's that I have seen, it would benefit approximately 80 thousand Montanans and what it would do is it would put more money back into the pockets and then they would be able to spend that money on main street Montana," said Senator Walsh. 

Senator Walsh says, if passed, Congress could lift more than a million US citizens out of poverty. He also added that folks here in Montana can actually help him by writing or calling in to voice their desire to see minimum wage go up.
