UPDATE: Identity Released Of Body Found In Spokane River

UPDATE: The Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed the identity of the the male found in the river in Nine Mile Falls, WA on Monday, May 12th. The man has been identified as 51-year-old Michael Lloyd McCann. The cause of his death is still being investigated.

NINE MILE FALLS, Wash. - The Spokane County Sheriff's Department has confirmed that the body of a man was discovered in the Nine Mile Falls area of the Spokane River on Monday.

The body was found by a homeowner just south of the 7 Mile bridge near the 8000 block of North Rivermere Avenue. Deputies say it appears the man had been in the river for quite some time. The man has not been identified and the body is now in the custody of the Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office as the cause and manner of death is investigated.

Because this is an unattended death and it is unknown if foul play is involved, Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Major Crime Detectives will work with the Medical Examiner’s Office and provide assistance if needed.
