How You Can Help Give back to our Military Men and Women

Posted: Updated:
GREAT FALLS -

Montana has one of the largest number of men and women serving in the military. Now there is a way for the community to help give them a little taste of home as the are sent over seas. This Sunday the community will have a unique opportunity to give back to our service men and women who are currently fighting and serving in other countries.

"Operation Supply Drop gets video games and supplies related to video games to troops stationed over seas. So they have a chance to blow off steam and connect with larger gamer community and have a chance at normalcy," says Josh Hughes.

While both Hughes brothers who have never served in the military, Josh and Trevor Hughes can identify with the stress that leaving the comfort of home can put on someone recently deployed.

"It's really great because you can have a sense that you can have an impact on the world around you, you can help people out, but also more directly when you see these kind of charities they generally serve 2 groups, your station military and your people critical or terminal illness dealing in hospitals. and I don't know what it's like to be a military member and i was never in the military, but my family falls into that second category and we know what it's like to have your life up-ended by events that most people just can't understand and what video games do is they give you a chance to have a conversation with someone," explains Josh Hughes.

Through operation Supply Drop Service men and women can connect with family and friends back home through online gaming, for example a father can play with his son while serving in Iraq.

"Video games gives them a chance to be understood, be able to connect and blow off steam and feel like their part of something that people get them and connect with them and I think that's very important," says Josh Hughes.

For those who want to participate in giving back, there is a small incentive to say thank you.

"And basically whenever someone can prove to us that they have donated to operation supply drop or answer our trivia question, which is some pretty good trivia that we have come up with. They'll be able to be entered for one of the many code that we have for the Jax and Daxter collection or the uncharted 3 swag and the last of us swag," says Trevor Hughes.

You can go online to the Operation Supply Drop web site at WWW.OPERATIONSUPPLYDROP.ORG  and make a donation to help a solider over seas.
