First Ever Beautiful Vet Event, Makes Veterans Day Special

Posted: Updated:
GREAT FALLS - In time for Military Appreciation weekend, Fern Photography's Beautiful Vets event gave a make over to 10 women Veterans in our community as a way of saying thank you. Joe Biega introduces us to one of the women honored. Today with help from local businesses like Scheels, Riddles, Dragonfly and several different Hair Salons, the Fern Photography studio selected 10 Veteran women to get a free make over day during the first ever Beautiful Veterans event.

"Today is the big day for the beautiful vets event. we are so excited the studio is filled with so many deserving women and I just can't say enough we are really excited," says Owner Amber Fern.

Airman Staff Sergeant Ellie Coolidge, has been out of the military for 4 years. However it was still a little weird getting all dressed up.

"Very un-normal. even though I had been out for since 2009 it's still I'm not a dressy type person," says Coolidge.

Coolidge was nominated by her husband though a Facebook write-in nomination process.

"Yeah he wrote it on Facebook and he made me laugh because he nominated me as being very hardcore when I was in the Military. I yelled at him about his uniform being out of place and I was like fix your stripes Airman," adds Coolidge.

When she was selected to receive a day honoring her along with other deserving women, it was more than a big surprise, it was also a fantastic birthday surprise.

"It was a surprise and of course I called my sisters at home and they were like you have no idea what is going on. Best 30th birthday present ever, I must say. you know her doing this was a surprise," said Coolidge.

In the end all dressed up, dolled up and with pictures taken,Veteran Staff Sergeant Ellie Coolidge had a great time.

"I did. I had an amazing time today this had been great," said Coolidge.

After a very successful Beautiful Vet day Fern Photography will be looking to continue this event to help give back to the women who serve our Country.
