The Rules on Political Signs in Yards

Posted: Updated:

With election season almost upon us the city of Great Falls wants you to remember a few simple rules when placing out your campaign posters. Political signs do not require a city sign permit. However, signage must be in compliance with city code and may be placed no earlier than 60 days prior to any election.

Signs must be removed within seven days after an election. The Primary Election here in the electric city is scheduled for June 3rd. The General Election will be held on November 4th. Signs are not allowed on downtown city property and the signs you put up on your front lawn must be placed 12 feet from the curb. City officials say the reason for the rules is to keep political signs on lawns from getting out of control.
