Beginning of the Expo Park Car Racing

Posted: Updated:
GREAT FALLS - The Expo Park has served many purposes whether for the state fair, state basketball tournaments, or rodeos in the past. Today the venue was turned into a race track today. Joe Biega met up with one driver with an interesting car. Great Falls Sports Car Club of America has started it's seasonal races. These races allow members to race almost any kind of car imaginable.

"I think it is absolutely amazing, you'll see anything out here from a bone stock Integra to a Roush 3 Mustang. And it's like a mobile car show," explains Driver Nathan Witt.

Cory Ehnes is trying out a brand new car today that not only looks different, but has family ties as well.

"It was definitely a winter project, for my dad. My Dad Russ Ehnes is the one who built it and he's letting us race it today," says Ehnes.

Other than it's interesting shape, but also sports some interesting features.

"This car is built off of a 1971 Volkswagen beetle chaise. So it's a Volkswagen suspension and it has a 670 CC snow mobile engine," says Ehnes.

For folks who want to see these races for themselves they can find the schedule of events on the groups web site.

"Correct we also have a Facebook page, just look up Great Falls Racing," says Witt.

The SCCA also invites folks to join up and try their hand at racing their own cars on the custom track.
