Senior Standout: Darby Semenza

Posted: Updated:
A high school athlete gets 4 years to make their mark. During her four years at CMR, Darby Semenza has taken her mark and has taken off.

"She's been an important part of our team for 4 years. She's won a lot of different events. She's been apart of the relay team that's been 1st and 2nd at state meet. She's our school record holder and she's kind of been a jack of all trades. She's an important piece of the puzzle for the last 4 years," said head coach Mike Henneberg.

She's also been someone Coach doesn't have to worry about.

"She's been a good kid for us. She's cry dependable and has a good work ethic. Some of those things you worry about with other kids you just don't worry about with Darby."

Darby's worked hard in her 4 years as a Rustler and has continued to try to get better in every event she competes in.

"Just gradually tried to improve myself. I know there will be some meets where I go down and stuff but then I just try to work my way back up and I'm shooting to be an athlete at UM next year," said Darby Semenza.

Darby will look to be apart of the the Griz track and field team but even if she isn't she says she happy with going to Montana.

"It'll be nice to get out of Great Falls. I was born and raised here and being kind of away from home but just enough to come whenever I want will be really nice and I just hope opportunities open there," said Semenza.

An opportunity she would surely make the most of.

GREAT FALLS- Protesters gathered on the sidewalks of downtown Great Falls this afternoon to express frustration on how Sen. Jon Tester is handling veteran issues. They believe Sen. Tester isn't living up to what he said he'd do to help veterans. The duo held up signs saying "Tester hasn't kept his promises to vets". They told us some more protesters had stopped by throughout the hours of 11:00 and 1:00 this afternoon. "I've seen so many veterans come by here and say y...
