Helena Middle School Student Named NFL Play 60 Ambassador

Posted: Updated:
The NFL Play 60 program is all about developing healthy habits. Earlier today, former NFL and MSU lineman John Taylor, spoke to Helena middle school to encourage those habits.

"Middle school is such and influential time in kids lives that if you can really hammer in that they need to make these healthy food choices, get out and really move their bodies and stay healthy that it is going to stay with them longer," said Taylor. "And it makes it easier down the road to make those healthy choices when they get older."

Kids from all throughout Helena middle school tracked their diets, exercise, and service to be Montana's NFL Play 60 ambassador, and it all came down to this.

"I want Drew Briggs, where are you?"

"I thought everybody else would have better points then me and do things like that," said 6th grade winner Drew Briggs. "But I wasn't that worried because I knew it would be a good choice and they would help out the state. But it was definitely a surprise when I found out."

The shock that Drew won may have only been a shock to him. Being healthy and active is only part of the equation, but his commitment to service really stands out.

"I helped the school a lot," said Drew. "I did my best to help out with club activities and stuff like that. I helped out with lunch and things like that to make it healthier."

The next step for Drew is to head on down to Cowboys stadium in Arlington, Texas for the NFL Play 60 national summit, which kind of works out for him, he's a Cowboys fan.
