UPDATE/YAKIMA, WA - A fatal accident in Yakima left many witnesses traumatized Thursday morning.

It happened a little before 10 a.m. along the 2800 Block of Terrace Heights Drive.

State Patrol Troopers said 27-year-old Nicole Fragoso was driving a motor home down Terrace Heights Drive heading towards downtown Yakima.

Troopers said she drove onto the sidewalk and hit 72-year-old Russell Bartlett. Troopers said Bartlett was thrown 45 to 50 feet.

Witnesses said Fragoso slowed down like she was going to stop, but then all of a sudden took off. Fortunately, a trooper was nearby and arrested Fragoso just a mile or so away.

We spoke with a woman who works right across from where the collision happened and saw the whole aftermath.

"Traumatic," said Sarah Pimentel. "I screamed and didn't really know what to do. I didn't know whether to run out or help. It was just really hard to see."

When emergency responders arrived, they gave Bartlett CPR and quickly took him to a local hospital. Sadly, troopers said Bartlett died about an hour after the collision.

We have learned that drugs or alcohol were involved, and Fragoso is under investigation for vehicular homicide and hit and run death.
