Tester Speaks on Possible VA Changes

HELENA - Two days after the resignation of the VA Director Eric Shinseki, Senator Jon Tester has now weighed his opinion on the situation today and taken action in Helena.

Senator Tester today announcing legislation and a tour that he feel would solve the problems facing the Veterans Affairs Health Care System.
     
Tester's bill would potentially strengthen the role of the VA's Office of the Medical Inspector. They would make public reports for the first time. Tester, who is a member of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee and the Appropriations Committee, is going to allocate five million dollars to investigate facilities across the nation.
    
According to Tester, an inspector visited the Helena VA last week. Tester will start a tour this month to obtain from veterans on their VA experiences.

    ATHOL, Idaho - After a thorough investigation into the fire that closed a portion of Silverwood Theme Park last weekend, investigators with the Timberlake Fire Protection District say it was most likely an improperly discarded cigarette that started the fire.

The water park was evacuated while crews worked to put the flames out.
