Orlando Reveals Plans For Tallest Roller Coaster

Posted: Updated:
KHQ.COM - Orlando revealed plans of building the world's tallest roller coaster called the Skyscraper on Thursday.

This coaster would be the centerpiece of a new area in Orlando called Skyplex. The projected height of the new coaster is around 570 feet.

The ride is expected to be a 3-minute ride that includes loops, inversion and barrel rolls during it's 50 story decent. The maximum speed would be about 65 mph and riders would be held in with a waistband-style restraint.

The Skyscraper will require the approval from the Federal Aviation Administration due to it's extreme height.

Currently the tallest coaster in the world resides at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey. It's called the Kingda Ka and it is 456 feet tall. You can watch this roller coaster experience by playing the video above.

Work on the Skyscraper is scheduled to start next year and open in 2016 according to its developers.
