New Sign Coming to CMR Football Field

Posted: Updated:
GREAT FALLS -

Next year CMR’s football score board is going to look a little different.

"The sign as you can see says Jack Johnson Pride Field last night the school board voted to change the name, what was CMR Pride Field turned into Jack Johnson Pride Field. As an Honor to Jack Johnson as he is now retired from coaching at CMR football," says Gail Carter.

In fact a group of alumni are the ones responsible for the brand new sign honoring the former head coach.

"What brought it about was we needed a new scoreboard for what was Pride Field and at that time it was suggested by some parents that we could name it Jack Johnson Pride Field," adds Carter.

So the sign was made a few years ago in anticipation for Johnson's retirement.

"I've been a CMR football fan since I went there in the 70's and so coach Johnson coached at CMR for 41 years and it seemed appropriate. So it's something we started in 2011 when we were on the QB Club," says Lynda Morin.

The CMR Quarterback Club feels this will be an excellent addition to not only CMR but the city as well.

"It’s wonderful. I think it's a great tribute to Jack and all that he has done for this community. For sports, for football, for not just CMR, but the entire community of Great Falls and even has reached as far as the rest of the state of Montana," says Carter.

Coming up next month there will be a celebration in honor of the long time Rustler football coach at the Expo Park Trades and Industry building on July 12 from 6 to 9 PM. All are welcome to come celebrate. We will have more on this at 6 PM.
