KENNEWICK, WA - NBC Right Now is learning more about Kate and Ethan Austin.

The two were found dead by their dad on Monday at their Kennewick home.

Kate Austin was a junior at Kamiakin High School and Ethan Austin was a sixth grader at Desert Hills Middle School.

Tuesday, the Kennewick School District had counselors available at both schools in the libraries for any students wishing to talk to someone about what happened.

During her freshman year, Kate met David Marshall in class, he was a sophomore at the time.

Marshall was surrounded by friends Tuesday who are helping him cope with the loss of his girlfriend. Marshall said she was a kind person that loved her friends and he loved her.

The two had been dating for two and a half years and were even making plans for the future.

"We had a long relationship, stuff was getting serious," said Marshall.

His mom called the couple inseperable.

At graduation Kate handed him at least a dozen letters, so he could read them while away at Seattle University.

"It reminds me of her, but I know I won't be able to see her again but she'll always be in my heart I'll always love her," Marshall said.

Kate was part of Kamiakin's state chamionship softball team. Marshall said she was a great pitcher and loved her softball family, she also played for the Angels club softball team.

"She was always kind and friendly to everybody, she always had a smile on her face," Marshall said.

Kate also had other talents.

"She was a really great artist."

Marshall was also close with Kate's little brother Ethan Austin. His own little brother and Ethan were school friends and often worked together on projects.

He said Ethan was a boy scout and loved to golf.

"He was a great kid," he said.

There are several vigils being planned for Kate and Ethan in the coming days.

Tuesday night Kennewick First Presbyterian Church is opening its doors to anyone wishing to pray for the family starting at 5:30 p.m. and again at 8:00.

Then Wednesday friends and family are holding a balloon release at Lawrence Scott Park in Kennewick around 2:00 p.m.
