Brewers Looking to Bounce Back from Opening Loss

Posted: Updated:
HELENA - Following a forgettable opening day for the Helena Brewers, they'll be looking to turn things around tonight in game two of their opening series with Missoula.

Things did not start off well for the Brewers. It only took three batters to get three runs for Missoula and by the end of two they were down 5-1, and their late game rally was cut short by rain in the ninth - not the kind of start you'd expect from a team that was one game away from a Pioneer championship last season. But the sky isn't falling in Helena just yet.

"When you find yourself down 5-1 in two innings you know it's an uphill battle," said Brewers Manager Tony Diggs. "But the guys competed, they continued to swing the bats well. We put ourselves back in position to be able to score some runs late. We just got rained out and didn't get a chance to participate in the 9th."

"It's early. It's game two out of 76 or 78," added rookie catcher Greg McCall. "It's a new day. In baseball, you lose one night and come out and play the next day. That's the good thing about baseball. You're not going to change things up. We've got Devin on the mound tonight and he should have a good outing so we're just ready to go for tonight."
