Transient Man Sentenced to 1 Year in Prison for Alleged Rape

Posted: Updated:
MISSOULA - A transient man accused of raping two teenage girls under a Missoula bridge is sentenced to one year in prison.

Court documents show William Stephens gave alcohol to two girls, ages 13 and 14, before he raped them under the Reserve Street bridge in July of 2012.

Investigators determined the girls had run away from a group home in Alberton.

Stephens was sentenced to prison for one year on one count of criminal endangerment as part of a plea deal between defense attorneys and state prosecutors.

Attorneys said the plea deal was made because one of the alleged victims would be unable to testify if the case had gone to trial.
