This weekend was a big weekend for the city of Fort Benton as they celebrated their annual Fort Benton celebration. Tents of food shops and homemade vendors all across the Fort Benton park, says the Fort Benton summer celebration is back again.
"Well as soon as this year gets over we start on next year. And this year was the 48th annual Fort Benton Summer celebration,"says Connie Jenkins.
In a city filled with the most history, the summer celebration gets its roots from the 70's.
"Well it started in 1976, when they dedicated the lewis and clark statue down here across from the freeze," says Jenkins.
To put on a event as large as this takes a lot of planning, because there is so much going on at once.
"well we had a big weekend yesterday, we had a big parade. probably one of the bigger ones we ever had. we had music, free music in the park all afternoon and then in the evening at grand union square we had Claista from Livingston and 2 other bands," adds Jenkins.
According to one of the celebration organizer, this event is not only popular with the citizens of Fort Benton, but even people outside Montana come to visit.
"Basically class reunions get together during this time and people come from all over," says Jenkins.
If you missed this years Celebration, don't worry because the summer celebration plans to be back again for your enjoyment next year.
