Boeing Officials Evaluate Plane Parts In Clark Fork River

Posted: Updated:

Montana Rail Link officials said all of the Boeing fuselages sent into the Clark Fork River after a train derailed, will be removed by Tuesday.

Boeing released a statement on Monday, saying a team of experts is still assessing the damage to a total of six fuselages.

Several train cars, carrying aircraft parts, were also sent down the embankment. Experts found the parts undamaged, so they will be sent to the Boeing assembly plant in Everett, Washington.

FWP and Montana Rail Link officials will clean up debris through the rest of the week. The river remains open to floaters.

"Montana Rail Link has contractors out there in boats that are watching, and making sure the public keeps a safe distance, and I think that's working well," said Montana Rail Link spokeswoman, Lynda Frost.

The train was en route from Spirit Aerosystems in Wichita, Kansas to the Boeing final assembly plant in Renton, Washington. The cause of the derailment is still under investigation.
