PROSSER, WA – One of the first recreational marijuana stores in the state is busy prepping for their “soft opening”.

Monday night and Tuesday morning the Altitude staff will be prepping the product and putting it out on their displays. When customers over the age of 21 walk in they will be asked for their identification a total of three times. Once at the door, in the lounge and waiting area and then again before they enter the display area and purchase the product.

The store will even have what they call “cannabis coaches” to help new pot users or anyone who is need of help during their purchases.

"We definitely embrace people that are for it and against it. If you're against it, please feel free to at least come check it out. We don't expect to win everyone over but at the same time, even if you're someone that's opposed to this, at least come check our store out for yourself. We welcome everybody," explained spokesperson Manel Valenzuela.

This will be Altitude’s soft opening. The store will open at 8 a.m. on Tuesday July, 7th. For the next few following weeks before a grand opening, they will be open 7 days a week for a few hours, closing shop after they have helped 300 customers each day. The goal is to make sure there is product to last from day to day while they wait for more producers and growers to be licensed to keep their shelves stocked.

Altitude is located at 620 Merlot Drive in Prosser.
