Marijuana goes up for legal sale in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. -

The Washington State Liquor Control Board issued 3 different retail marijuana licenses to Spokane pot shops on Monday morning. One of those shops says it will open this afternoon.

Owners of Spokane Green Leaf say they plan to open shop to customers at 2pm today. Green Star Cannabis and Satori, the other two retail shops to get a license in Spokane likely will not open until later this week or next, the owners told KHQ.

Spokane Green Leaf anticipates opening until it runs out of product. A store spokesman says more product will likely be brought on Thursday the 10th, or Friday the 11th. Sales are only legal to those who are 21 and older.

Store owners at Green Star and Satori say supply is limited. Although they are legally licensed to sell, both store owners say they plan to open later because they want to stay open longer rather than run out of product and close their doors temporarily. Something many Colorado pot shops faced after opening.

If you go, Spokane Green Leaf is located at 9107 North Country Homes Boulevard in Spokane.

Anyone under the age of 21 will be turned away and not allowed in to the shop.

A landslide swept through, completely closing roads, and trapping people in their homes. “With all that vegetation gone, the water just runs off and creates a large pile at the bottom of the hill,” said U.S. Geological Survey Geologist Tom Frost.
