US House Candidate John Lewis Announces platform to C.L.E.A.N. up Congress

HELENA -

This morning, U.S. House candidate democrat John Lewis made an announcement regarding a five point plan to "clean up Congress."

Reforming congress is one of the many platforms for the John Lewis campaign, and today Lewis announced a proposal on how he plans to do just that.

"Well everywhere you go people are sick and tired of partisan politics," Lewis said. "They want to see congress work together, make tough decisions, like everyone else does in communities across Montana. It's a proposal to start the conversation to clean up congress and restore trust in the government."

The proposal is called the C.L.E.A.N. platform, where Lewis aims to hold members of congress accountable.

"We need step one of this plan is for congress to pass a budget," Lewis said. "Congress needs to do their part in terms of reducing the federal deficit. And I'm proposing that if you can't pass a budget, you shouldn't get paid."

His hope for the platform is to get all parties in congress back to working together to solve problems and help the citizens they represent.

"Get democrats and republicans working together again on the job their sent there to do, which is work on legislation that helps working families in this country," Lewis said.

As Lewis travels around the state, he encourages input on the platform from Montana voters. You can read more information about his plan to clean up congress on his campaign website at montanansforlewis.com.
