The University of Great Falls announced that it has hired Jesse Geleynse as its sports information and marketing director.
“I’m excited to join the athletic department at the University of Great Falls,” Geleynse said. “The new job presents a new set of challenges and there is so much potential for growth – both personally and professionally. UGF is an excellent institution with a strong athletic tradition, and I want to be a part of it.”
Geleynse, 29, spent the last three years at the Great Falls (Mont.) Tribune, where he covered high school, college and professional sports. He took both first and second place in the “Best Sports Story” category at the Montana Newspaper Association Better Newspapers Contest in 2014.
“We are excited to hire someone with Jesse’s impressive background and skill set,” UGF athletic director Gary Ehnes said. “We’re looking forward to expanding the brand of UGF athletics. Jesse will be a great asset to the department both in the game-day experience and on social media.”
Geleynse worked at the Le Mars (Iowa) Daily Sentinel for two years prior to joining the Tribune. He began his career as a sports clerk at the Everett (Wash.) Herald.
Geleynse is a native of Mount Vernon, Wash., and played baseball for one season at George Fox University in Newberg, Ore. He transferred to Washington State University in Pullman, Wash., prior to his sophomore year and graduated from WSU in 2007.
