Trout Unlimited offers reward for fish stockings

Posted: Updated:

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) - A fishing advocacy group is offering a $10,000 reward for information on individuals suspected of illegally stocking non-native fish in several Montana lakes.

Montana Trout Unlimited offered the reward for information leading to the apprehension and conviction of those responsible for planting northern pike in Lake Mary Ronan, smallmouth bass in Seeley Lake and walleye in Noxon Reservoir.

The group says introduced fish can harm native species by preying on them, spreading disease and harming water quality.

To report information on illegal stocking of fish, contact Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks at 17/88007/8TipMont, or Montana Trout Unlimited at 406-7/8543-0054.
