Big Sky Kickoff Recap Day 2

Posted: Updated:

Here on the last day of the Big Sky kickoff a real cool atmosphere as we had all 13 coaches in the same room and I got a chance to speak with them and they all said two things, how good the Big Sky inference is and how excited they are for the season to start.

"I like coming down here you get the competitive juices flowing and you know everyone is working hard and we all are going to try and beat each other brains out in the fall," said Montana State Head Coach Rob Ash.

As the coaches interviews got underway the preseason polls came out with Eastern Washington claiming the number one spot followed by Montana and Montana State in both the coaches and the media polls.

"Eastern Washington comes out on top and rightfully so they have great players and a great coaching staff and you take us in the preseason poll at number two and you go two through eight and any one of those seven teams can be on the top when it's all said and done," said Griz Head Coach Mick Delaney.

"I think there's a clear cut two at the top in Montana and Eastern Washington and the other 11 are working to get where we want to be and that's in that pack so it will be interesting to see what teams emerge," said Cal Poly Head Coach Tim Walsh.

"I think it will be very evenly matched the whole season and it will be interesting to see how it all shakes out," said Ash.

Foe Eastern Washington Head Coach Beau Baldwin he says the preseason polls won't matter once the season starts but for now they do matter.

"Well I do take stock in the fact that it means guys have done some great things in the recent years and some people say you might rather want to sneak up on people but if you're sneaking up on people you probably weren't very good last year or the year before," said Baldwin.

Most of these coaches said they are going to enjoy these last couple weeks before fall camp starts and that's where the real excitement begins.
