Electric City All-Stars Looking to Win State Championship, Advance to California

Posted: Updated:

Want proof that hard work pays off? The Electric City all-star baseball team has been practicing twice a day at 6 am and then again at PM during the summer. And just last weekend, they clinched a spot in the state championship series.

"Pretty proud you know. We've had a lot of these kids for the last couple of years on a couple of teams and they've worked really hard to get here so I'm extremely proud. We've taken huge steps for Great Falls to be able to win the district championships," said head coach Tom Croskrey.

Now, their toughest task lies ahead in a best of 3-game series against Billings this weekend with a trip to California on the line.

"I'd really like to beat Billings this year because last year we lost real bad and it wasn't fun," said catcher Brayden Welty.

"It'd be really cool and fun to beat Billings because we never beat billings," said 2B Tommy Croskrey.

In order to do so, they are keeping things simple, literally.

"I've been preaching years to these guys about simple outs because that's our motto. Make the easy play when you can and make the ESPN play if they happen - don't try and make every play an ESPN play just make the easy outs and so we've been preaching that for the last month during practice," said head coach Tom Croskrey.

And this is the message coach will deliver before their game on Saturday.

"Hundred percent, all the time. Give it your all and don't have any regrets when you walk off the field and if we get beat by a better team then we get beat by a better team," said head coach Tom Croskrey.

And come Sunday, the Electric City hopes their hard work pays off and that they'll be champions of Montana, heading to California.
