Posted: Updated:

Disc Golf or Folf as many people know it, is a sport that's becoming more and more popular. This weekend Missoula hosted the annual Zoo Town Open which brought many players from around the world.

Rhan Henderson Co-Owner of the Montana Disc shop says "Its a very very fun, classic disc golf tournament. it means a ton. its grown a lot. last year we had the a tier prestige. this year a little bit smaller. but still every bit as fun for all us Montanans."

Christian Dietrich who grew up in Missoula played in the tournament over the weekend along with a couple of touring Pros.

"Dana and Paul are two incredibly talented guys who as i mentioned are on there way to there world championships. So ill have a tough battle on my hands," says the Disc Golf Pro Dietrich.

Just like in Professional Golf their are pros that play in tournaments all over the world. And that is what these guys will do.

"As far as the touring pro. there's tournaments every weekend all over the country. so we've got a great opportunity to just travel you know pay entry fees into the tournaments. and if you play well might get a little bit of cash." says touring pro Paul Oman.

"Pretty excited to be here. back at the zoo town open. I was here in 2011 and we had an unbelievable time. love the course." adds the other touring pro Dana Vicich.

As a touring pro these guys get to see the best competition week in and week out.

"You've got to come to these places that have pros that play these courses all the time," says Oman.

As for playing with Christian this weekend both the touring pros couldn't have been more excited.

"Christian and I know each other. I think we've played a few rounds here. We actually played together in 2011. But its awesome playing with Christian. He's actually someone I look up to," says Vicich.

Oman adds, "A stand up guy like Christian. He's actually got a lot to do with the courses around here, the design, the club and what not. It's people like him that get the sport going."

Christian ended day one in the lead at the Zoo Town open and I got a chance to talk to him about the chance of winning the tournament.

"The last time i won this tournament was int 2007. Hopefully I can get that done," says Dietrich.

For the record Christian went on to win the Zoo Town open by one stroke.?
