GREAT FALLS -

Firefighters battle blazes and save lives, but who's there for them when they need a little saving?

Since 2009, the Great Falls Salvation Army has provided disaster relief services for first responders. They provide food, snacks, and drinks to those on the front lines of disaster. They do this with a tool called Sally One.

"So this is a mobile canteen it's a mobile kitchen and so were able to go out and provide nutrition and hydration to responders at the scene of an incident it allows them to remain stronger physically fit on the scene while they're at the fire," said Coordinator Jesse Oldem.

Black Eagle Fire Chief Tom Martin said fire crews often forget about food and time because when they respond to a disaster it's not about them.

"Some of these fires and stand-offs and stuff time duration you're out there for a long time so its really nice having them show up so you can get fed and get some nice cool Gatorade or water so its just fantastic the program that they put on at the salvation army," Oldem said.

However, it's not about the applause, everyone involved with Sally One is a volunteer and that's why it's so important to volunteer Nancy Hampton.

"When you help someone that's out helping others and you do it on a volunteer basis it priceless," Hampton said.

Oldem said that's why they do it,  it's their calling, it's about paying it forward.

If you want more information about Sally One contact the Salvation Army or follow them on Twitter.
