Five Saints, One Light named Preseason All-American

Five Carroll Saints and One MSU-Northern light were named as Preseason All-Americans by the Collegiate Development Football League.

Carroll's Sean Blomquist was named first team while Alex Kastens and Dustin Rinker were on the second team. Anthony Clarke and Connor Smith made third team.

John Jansen is the lone MSUN Light to make the preseason All-American list.

Four Carroll College Football Players Receive Pre-Season Recognition

The 2014 Preseason All-America Football Team was selected by the “D2 vs. NAIA Challenge” Bowl committee and the 2015 “Team America” coaching staff. It was presented by the Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL) on Wednesday.

Four member of the Fighting Saints Football Team were selected. On defense, Sean Blomquist at linebacker was named to the first team. On offense, Alex Kastens at was selected for the second team at center along with Dustin Rinker at running back. Wide receiver Anthony Clarke was tabbed with a third team selection.

The players named to this team are added to the watch list for an invitation to the 2014 D2 vs. NAIA Challenge Game, which takes place in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on December 20, 2014.

To be selected, players must be 2014 seniors to be eligible.  The list and was chosen based on player nominations and evaluations of college coaches, college sports information directors, regional scouts and media personnel.

Players are also evaluated for selection to the “Team America” roster that represents the USA in scheduled International Bowl Games in 2015.
