Former Griz Impressive for Seahawks

Posted: Updated:
Former Griz linebacker Brock Coyle went undrafted, despite being considered a late round prospect by many NFL writers and commentators. While he may not have gotten drafted, it hasn't changed his ability to make an impact with an NFL team.

After years of being die-hard Grizzly fans living in Bozeman, the Coyle family got to follow the next step in Brock's career, with his first game of the NFL pre-season for the Seattle Seahawks.
"First of all, it was my first NFL game, so to come to my first NFL game, and see my son play it was awesome," says Brock's mother Tina.

Brock, who signed as an undrafted free agent with the team in May, has gotten plenty of attention from local media for his strong play…including starting against the Broncos in their first pre-season game.

"It feels great.  It was a lot of fun just to play live football again, to go out there with my teammates and go up against another team, so it was a lot of fun," says Brock, the rookie linebacker for the Seahawks.

Playing in place of injured Bobby Wagner, Coyle was the only starter on the field who was not in the Seahawks Superbowl win over the Broncos.  His coaches, and of course his biggest fans were happy with his play.

"I thought he did really well.  I was very impressed, I think he did everything he was supposed to do, and I loved it," says Tina.

As he continues his battle to make the final 53 man roster, Coyle has turned enough heads for many to believe that's a decent possibility.  When you ask him about the changes going from Montana to the pros, he says it's all just football.

"I'm in the NFL now.  The game of football here is much faster, but it's still the same game I've been playing for years.  As a middle linebacker, the big thing for me was to line up the defense, and it was fun, it was fast, but definitely fun," says Brock.

As the pre-season continues, Coyle will have the state of Montana behind him…as well as an impressive group of traveling family members.

"We've got family here from Connecticut, from Bozeman Montana, and Utah, so it was a good showing," says Tina
