OREM, Utah (August 13, 2014) - The Great Falls Voyagers made it two in a row over the first half South Division Champion Orem Owlz Wednesday night, collecting an 8-4 win at Brent Brown Ballpark.

It was the Owlz (7-9, 31-23) who opened the night's scoring, plating two in the first. With two down, Orem got back-to-back doubles from Fran Whitten and Tyler Palmer to grab an early two-run edge.

The lead did not last long however, as Great Falls (7-10, 30-25) answered with three of their own in the second. After the first two Voyagers singled, a groundout moved both runners into scoring position for Louie Lechich. Lechich then began a string of three consecutive run-producing knocks as he, Ryan Jones, and Tyler Shryock each drove in one to give the visitors the lead.

The Voyagers then added two more against Owlz starter Arjenis Fernandez (7-4) in the fourth. Jones collected his second RBI of the night with a single, then Ethan Gross brought another tally home with a sacrifice fly.

Great Falls got two more in the fifth, this time via the long ball. Dillon Haupt and Zach Fish each took Fernandez deep for solo shots, making it the third time this season that the Voyagers have hit back-to-back homers in a contest.

The Voyagers added one final run against the Orem bullpen in the seventh as Gross collected his second RBI of the night with a single. The single gave every member of the Great Falls lineup at least one hit on the night, with six of the nine turning in multi-hit efforts.

The eight runs was plenty for Great Falls who had to go to the bullpen a little earlier than expected when starter Brian Clark had to leave early after he was hit by a line drive in the third. Matt Cooper (3-1) came on in relief, and twirled a career-high two and two-thirds frames, while also whiffing a career-high five.

The final runs of the night came in the bottom of the seventh, when Whitten and Michael Hermosillo each drove in one to pull the Owlz within four.

Connor Walsh came on for the final two frames for Great Falls, and offered up two scoreless innings to extend his scoreless streak to six straight appearances, covering 10 and a third innings.

The Voyagers and Owlz wrap-up their three-game set and regular season series Thursday night at Brett Brown Ballpark. Great Falls will send right-hander Zach Thompson (2-3, 4.00) to the mound, while Orem will counter with fellow righty Jeremy Rhoades (1-0, 5.32). First pitch is set for 7:05 and coverage will begin at 6:50 on 1400 AM KXGF and gfvoyagers.com.
