Two-Year-Old Child Survives in Wrecked Car for 19 Hours

Posted: Updated:

A one-vehicle rollover accident claimed the life of a young mother and left her two-year-old son strapped in the car seat inside the wrecked vehicle for 19 hours.

The accident occurred near Pryor, a town just outside of Billings. Police identified the victim as 28-year-old Nikki C. Dillon. According to Montana Highway Patrol, the woman came off a paved section of road into a construction zone and tried to over-correct. Police say that's when the vehicle veered down a steep embankment. Dillon was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the car. Her body was found in a field nearby.

It is not known exactly when the accident took place.... MHP says she was last seen by family members around PM on Tuesday, yet the crash was not reported to MHP until 4 pm Wednesday. That's reportedly when the child was found. He is said to be in good condition.
