Bicyclist Killed in Whitefish Crash

Posted: Updated:
A 28-year-old Whitefish man is dead after a car accident last night.

Jared Frederick Kinney was riding a bicycle around 9:30 Thursday when he was hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and Edgewood Place. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The Flathead County Sheriff/Coroner said Kinney had recently moved to the Whitefish area from Wayland, New York.

The Whitefish Police Department issued a press release saying the driver of the vehicle involved was from Alberta, Canada, and told officers she was pulling into the parking lot of an office building to turn around. Police say Kinney may have been riding against traffic and did not have a headlight or taillight on his bike.

The Whitefish Police Department and the Montana Highway Patrol are still investigating.
