Townsend Football Loaded with Experience in 2014

Posted: Updated:
HELENA - After a pretty explosive 2013 season, the quarterback Jace Lewis and the Townsend Bulldogs are opening it up in 2014!

"This year we kind of went to the spread offense," said junior quarterback Jace Lewis. "Mainly because Bryce and I, and we have some pretty good receivers this year. And our O-line is pretty quick and fast."

"We got Bryce, I got me and Quinn on the receivers side," said senior wide receiver Kenny Wilbur. "And Jace, he can throw the ball like nobody's business. I mean he's got an arm. And he can run it too so I think we're pretty good right there."

The Bulldogs return all of their key players from last season, giving them an edge in experience that will be tough to match.

"I think our O-line is as strong as it was last year, if not a little bit stronger," said Lewis. "We all have been working pretty hard in the weight room and in the off season to get where we are now."

"Anytime someone has gotten several varsity reps over the last few years, they're going to be prepared for the upcoming season," said Bulldogs head coach Travis Rauh. "And they're also better to help out the younger players."

After giving up just over 12 points per game last season, the defense returns most of it's starters up front, and plan on being a headache for opposing quarterbacks.

We'll play 3-5," said Rauh. "We're going to play aggressive, I mean obviously we're going to switch our coverage up on occasion. But if it's not broke we don't really need to fix it."

"Our defense is usually pretty strong every year," said Lewis. "The coaches are pretty intense and get us fired up. It should be a pretty good year."

The Bulldogs are confident in the game plan this season. Open it up, and wins will follow.
