Carroll Women's Basketball Announces Second Signing

Posted: Updated:
Carroll College head women's basketball coach Rachelle Sayers has announced the signing of the second recruit of the 2015 class, Brooke Jones of Manhattan High School.

Jones, a 6-foot post, was selected to both the All-State (Class B) and Academic All-State teams during her sophomore and junior seasons.

“Brooke is a tremendous athlete that is just flat out tough.  There are strong players and there are tough players, and she is both,” Sayers said.

This past season (junior year), Jones averaged 16.6 points per game, 6.3 rebounds per game and an incredible 4.7 steals per game en route to being named Ms. Gallatin County Player of the Year.

“Her mom [Mikal] was not only a great player, but is a great coach and being raised in a basketball family is something we love about her.  What we really value though, is that she is a great student, who can play inside and out and give us great versatility,” Sayers said.

Jones shot 75-percent from the free-throw line and 41-percent from the floor, she added one block per contest, but her 127 steals was a school record and indicative of the type of defender Sayers is excited to have.

“Brooke is another Montana kid that has the right attitude and will help us win games at Carroll, we're thrilled to have her,” Sayers added.

A three-sport athlete, Jones also excels in volleyball and track.  Jones earned first-team All-Conference as a junior and second-team All-Conference as a sophomore.  As a thrower in track, she placed fifth at state in the discus and sixth in the javelin this past season.

Jones joins Hannah Dean of Gardiner High School as the first signings of the 2015 class.
