Trevor Bishop Sentenced To 45 Years

Posted: Updated:
GREAT FALLS - A Great Falls man who plead guilty to shooting a 16 year old girl was sentenced in Cascade County Justice Court this afternoon.

Trevor Bishop has been sentenced to forty-five years in state prison with none of those years suspended. Back in April, Bishop plead guilty to two felony assault with a weapon charges, and one felony charge of tampering with evidence. Bishop was charged after shooting a sixteen year old girl in the leg after what was presumed to be a drug deal gone wrong back in November of 2013.

During his plea agreement, Bishop admitted to the information in the police affidavit, and also admitted to aiming the handgun at the victim before shooting her in the leg.

Judge Dirk Sandefur said of Bishop that "the decision to get involved with methamphetamine, to distribute it, and then carry a firearm and use it. You are responsible for all of that." Judge Sandefur also was critical of Bishop being high at the time of the shooting, saying it was "inexcusable."

No determination was made on the possibility of parole for Bishop. According to Judge Sandefur, the parole board will determine that on a future date.
