Saints Softball Finally Ready to Take the Field for Fall Ball

Posted: Updated:
HELENA - As the Carroll Saints softball team hits the field for the first time in school history, they're not just building chemistry, they're paving the future of the program.

"I feel blessed honestly," said freshman infielder Justine Taylor. "I was really excited when I got to join the program. It's the first year and we get to build the foundation, and I'm really excited to be a part of that."

"We get to set down the tradition that we want for Carroll to have from here on out," said senior catcher Maddie Jones.

"It's great to see that it all came together, and that our judgement on talent has paid off," said Saints head coach Aaron Jackson. "I think we're going to be pretty solid all over the place and now it's just a matter of building that chemistry together."

Building chemistry is what fall ball is all about. The season doesn't start until spring, but it's never too early for a first year program to iron out the kinks.

"I think it's going to go well," said Taylor. "We're going to put in work and I think it's going to pay off in the long run. And this fall we're going to see who's going to be playing what positions, and who works well where, and who works well with who."

"The fall scrimmages get us innings," said Jackson. "Get them some looks at outside competition, and just really evaluate who's ready, and who needs some more work, and where we're at as a group."

Even with only two weeks to prepare for their first scrimmage, that doesn't seem to phase these new Saints.

"It is very quick, but I know that with the talent that we have, and the dedication that we have from our girls, the two weeks is going to fly by, but we're going to be completely ready for it," said Jones. "So we're ready to go."

It may feel quick, but these Saints are as ready as they'll ever be! Not just to win, but to build a program.
