CMR, Capital Prepare Showdown

Posted: Updated:
Last year, the Rustlers had a slow start to their season, losing their first four games. But this year, they've started fast and are 2-1 with their lone loss coming on the road against a high-powered Glacier team.

"We're playing pretty good I think right now. We gave one up there in Kalispell but they're a good team and our kids battle back last week against Butte so i was proud of them," said Gary Lowry, CMR head coach.

"I feel pretty confident on who we're doing so far. We lost a tough one in glacier which I think we should have won but we're getting better every day in practice and I'm excited to see what we can turn in to," said Karl Tucker, Rustler junior.

The Rustler offense has been key to their good start. CMR is averaging over 30 points a game and have been led by their junior running back Andrew Grinde who has 6 rushing touchdowns.

"He's solid. He will do whatever you ask him. He can block, pass block, run block, he can catch the ball, he can the run the ball obviously so whatever Andrew does for us we're happy to have him," said Lowry.

"My O-lineman doing a great job opening the holes for me. I give them most of the credit for sure. And then the passing game doing a good job so that opens it up for me and I just run hard," said Andrew Grinde, CMR junior RB.

Grinde and the Rustlers will host Capital this Friday night at Memorial Stadium in a game of rivals and traditional powers in AA.

"It's always a tough game against Capital. They've been a great rival for the rustlers for a long time and that hasn't changed. Their kids will prepare extra hard for us and we're going to do the same for them," said Lowry.

"It's a big one and the home crowd will definitely help - we have a great home crowd. We all are pretty confident but we can't be over-confident because they're always  good team no matter what they say so we're going to have to come in and play our best," said Grinde.

Capital comes into the game at 1-2 and off a tough loss to Flathead so they'll be motivated and that means the Rustlers will have to be ready, even though they're at home.
