UGF men's soccer team cracks the Top 25

– The University of Great Falls men's soccer team was ranked No. 23 when the latest NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 poll was released Tuesday.

"It is an honor to be ranked," UGF coach Paul Zazenski said. "These guys have dedicated themselves to this season, and it has paid off to date."

The Argos (4-0 Frontier Conference, 12-1 overall) are riding a nine-game winning streak. UGF's lone loss came during August in a 2-1 defeat to Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) in Salt Lake City.

"I would have to credit this ranking to our willingness to defend and our upperclassmen leadership," Zazenski said. "We understand that our job is not done as our end goal is to finish the season as conference champions."

The Argos lead the nation with eight shutouts this season. They have outscored their opponents 33-8 this season.

The last time the UGF men were ranked was two years ago when the Argos were ranked 22nd. This the first time the Argos have appeared in the regular-season poll.

"We are very proud of this national recognition and will look to build upon this success as we finish out the regular season," Zazenski said.

The Argos return to the pitch Saturday for an important contest against Jamestown. UGF topped Jamestown 2-0 earlier this season in North Dakota. Saturday's match begins at 3 p.m. at Siebel Soccer Park.
