Fairfield and Choteau Prepare for Class B Showdown

Posted: Updated:
Fairfield and Choteau. It's one of the best rivalries in class B. So when these teams meet, there's no holding back.

"It's a big game and the juices are going to be flowing. Hopefully in some form or fashion we'll be able to match their intensity and enthusiasm," said Les Meyer.

"Can't wait. We've been working hard in practice to execute on the field in big games like this. These are the games that matter," said Dylan Pannabecker.

The Eagles executed to perfection last season…. Winning the game 52-6… on the way to the league title. The Eagles enter this year's contest undefeated and ranked number one in the state. They are led on offense by their dual threat quarterback… senior Dalton Palmer… who has plenty of weapons at his disposal.

"The run is the key, it starts with the run in big games," said Meyer.

"They run the ball well so we have to stop the run and see where it goes from there," said Pannabecker.

Choteau is big up front… and is led by playmakers Liam Breen and Derrek Durocher. The Bulldogs enter the contest 4-1.  However… that lone loss came in the league to Conrad… so the Bulldogs could be playing for their post-season lives… while a win all but guarantees the Eagles a bid.

"There's definitely always added pressure to only have two teams coming out of our district," said Derrek Durocher.

"It's extremely important. We still have a good chance to win the district but we need to show that and prove that we're the best team in the district," said Pannabecker.

This is as good as it gets in high school football, and come Friday night, it's on between the Eagles and the Bulldogs.
