Saints Women's Basketball Ready for Home Opener Friday

Posted: Updated:
HELENA - The Carroll Saints women's basketball team is only days away from their home opener on Friday when they host Mount Royal University. The Saints season ended last year after a first round loss to MSU Northern in the Frontier Conference tournament, but this year they return all but two players from last years team, as well as eight new freshmen. The Friday start is earlier than the Saints have ever opened a season, but they're just ready to see a jersey other than the purple and gold.

"I think the kids are kind of sick of beating up on each other," said Saints head coach Rachelle Sayers. "And I'm ready to see where we need to improve, and where our conditioning is, and where our defense is. So we're excited to play on Friday obviously."

"To get out here in front of our home crowd, and just run our offense, instead of just a little jamboree where we run back and fourth," said Saints junior guard Katie Estey. "But home court, lights on, it'll be exciting to get out here for once and get going."
