Dakota Prukop Joins Payton Award Watch List

Posted: Updated:
Montana State sophomore quarterback Dakota Prukop was added to the Watch List for the 2014 Walter Payton Award by The Sports Network on Tuesday.

Fresh off a pair of historic performances, Prukop joined Eastern Washington quarterback Vernon Adams and EWU receiver Cooper Kupp as Big Sky representatives on the list of 25 players being tracked for the award presented to the top player in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The list features nine quarterbacks, but only three other sophomores – including Kupp and new addition Herb Walker, Jr., a running back from Morgan State.

The Payton Award is presented after a vote of FCS media representatives and SIDs following the regular season. It is part of The Sports Network's awards packages, the subdivision's oldest and most prestigious, which includes the Buck Buchanan Award. The last two Buchanan Award winners are Brad Daly (2013) and Caleb Schreibeis (2012), both former Bobcats.
