Choteau Bulldogs Volleyball Using Undefeated Season as Motivation

Posted: Updated:
CHOTEAU - The Choteau girls volleyball team is no joke. They practice like they're still in search of their first win, when in reality, they haven't lost a match all season.

"It's so much fun. I've known these girls my whole life so just working together - we work hard in practice so having the victories is good," said senior Hallie Stringfellow.

Work ethic and talent are key ingredients for winning. But the Bulldogs have senior leadership too.

"We have 6 seniors out here this year and they have pretty good experience. Lot of them know the expectations and know what needs to happen on the court in practice and in a match. So, they're competitors and I think that's a huge factor to the success of the team as well as their work ethic," said head coach Ann Funk.

The Bulldogs are fixtures at the state tournament… Since 1990 Choteau has 4 state titles, 2 runners up and have only missed the tournament twice. So, with the start they are off to this year, they hope they can make a deep run.

"We always talk about being the best that we can be and competing at the highest level that we can and if that means that's going to be good enough later on, then good for us. But there are some good teams out there and good coaches and to say that we have the potential - that's a tough prediction. As well as we do we always know there's someone else that wants it just as much as we do," said Funk.

But so far, nobody has wanted it more than Choteau. And even though they know they'll face stiff competition down the road, history suggests that the Bulldogs can compete with anyone in the state.
