Families in need of assistance this holiday season can now apply for help thanks to the Great Falls Salvation army which is now accepting donations as well as looking for volunteers for their annual Holiday Assistance Program.
The program provides each qualified family with a Thanksgiving food box or a Christmas food box along with toys for every child that's under 12 years of age. Mark King, Captain at the Salvation Army explains the requirements for all applicants.
“It really is quite simple we go by the federal guidelines for free and reduced lunch from the school system so as long as families can come in with proof of residence proof of income and ids for everyone in the household that their claiming then based on those federal guidelines they can qualify for a Thanksgiving food box or a Christmas food box and toys for children 12 and under.” king said.
Those that wish to donate toys or canned goods can do so at the Salvation Army's building located at 1000 17th avenue south. The last day to sign up for the Thanksgiving food box is November 13th.
