Senior Standout: Libbey Fellows, Great Falls High

Posted: Updated:

Libbey Fellows may be short in stature but the chip on her shoulder is bigger than anyone's in the gym.

"She's fun to watch. She has a nice big approach. I mean she's only 5'6 and she is pounding the ball so she does some big things for us, said Katherine Sunwall, GFHS head coach.

In a game dominated by height Libbey has had to adapt and adjust her playing style in order to be effective.

"It's definitely hard seeing girls that my play position that are 6'1 or 6'2 but I needed to add something to my game and I thought I need to be aggressive and not give up on anything," said Libbey Fellows, GFHS senior.

Libbey makes the most out of her body, but she also gets the most out of her teammates by setting the tone on the court.

"She has been one of our consistent leader throughout the year and continues to be for us," said Sunwall.

"She is probably one of the best leaders and example more than anything. She gets it done on the court, too. When you need a point or something to be done, she'll get it down for you," said Nora Klick, GFHS junior.

As team leader, Libbey also leads the Bison in kills. And when she's not spiking the ball, she's making her teammates smile.

"Libbey's very funny. She's a really nice girl, too. She's good a making everybody laugh and just a great friend," said Klick.

Libbey is still undecided on her college plans but she hopes to continue to play volleyball if given the opportunity.

"I'm looking at a couple different options but think it would be cool to follow in my dad's footsteps and play at MSU but I don't know yet," said Fellows.

Libbey may face some big decisions in her future but she's proven to be up to the task. No matter how short she is, she's a big time player and a big time kid.
