GFHS Wrestling Searching for Threepeat in 2014

GREAT FALLS - When it comes to wrestling, there's no question as to who's the best team in the state. It's Great Falls High.

"We're two time back to back state champs and we have a lot of good guys. My senior class when we came in as freshman we knew we were going to be good. And this is the year we've been waiting  for, we're all seniors now," said Kessler Leonard, senior wrestler.

This senior class has been impressive. Out of the five state champions from last year's team, three of them are seniors this year which provides experience and leadership for the program.

"We have a lot of leadership in this room and a lot of kids that have been successful but I don't think these kids are built to say I only did it once. I think when the season starts new, the goals start new and their expectations are just as high as before," said head wrestling coach Steve Komac.

The Bison head into the season confident, but with good reason. Sure, they have the hardware, but it's the effort they put in every day on the mat that makes them true champions.

"We're working our hardest in practice and leaving nothing else on the mat but toughness. We're keeping the same mentality that all the teams we competed with last year are out to get us and out for our number," said Jarren Komac, senior wrestler.
