Griz Taking Lessons from 2013 into 2014 Playoffs

Posted: Updated:
MISSOULA - The Montana Grizzlies kick off their 2014 playoff campaign this Saturday coming off of a pretty convincing win over the rival Cats this past weekend. The key for the Griz this year? Making sure to avoid the same mistakes they made in last year's playoffs.

In 2013 the Griz opened their playoffs in the second round against Coastal Carolina, who had to beat Beth Cookman just for a chance to play the Griz, and the Chants came to play! They dropped 35 first half points on the 8th ranked Grizzlies. That proved to be too much to overcome for Montana as they fell 42-35 in their first game of the playoffs. And as the Griz enter the this year's playoffs hosting San Diego, they know they can't afford to take any team for granted.

"We try to preach preparation every week, regardless of who we're playing ever since we started week one with Wyoming," said Griz head coach Mick Delaney. "We've got to prepare. We've got to know what they're doing. We've got to know what we're doing, and be disciplined."

"We can't afford to even the slightest bit look past this good team," said Griz senior quarterback Jordan Johnson. "So we'll just focus as much as we can on this and try not to look into the future."
