MSU-Northern Announces New Head Football Coach

Montana State University-Northern's Athletic Director, Christian Oberquell announced today that Aaron Christensen has been named their new Head Football Coach. Christensen will begin January the 5th.

"My family and I are excited for this great opportunity and look forward to becoming part of the Havre community. As the Head Football coach I plan on working to bring a physical, disciplined, and hard working team to MSU Northern and put a team on the field that will make the college proud. I look forward to getting to work," said Aaron Christensen.

Aaron Christensen is currently the Offensive Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator at Missouri Valley College. Christiansen has coached at the NAIA level for over 10 seasons. During this time, he has been able to work as a Running Back Coach, Video Coordinator, Passing Game Coordinator, and Wide Receivers' Coach. He has been part of four consecutive HAAC Championships and four NAIA Playoff appearances over the past four seasons (including a NAIA Semi-Final Appearance in 2012). Christensen has an M.A. in Management from Lindenwood University and a B.A. in Management from Si Tanka Huron University.

This selection was done after an extensive nationwide search that garnered 62 applicants and four finalists who were brought to campus for personal interviews. "I was very impressed by the quality of the candidates, and I am excited that Aaron has joined the team," said Christian Oberquell, MSU-Northern's Athletic Director.

"Aaron brings a great football knowledge and background to MSU-Northern. His hard nose exciting brand of football, we will feel will take us to the next level. Aaron wants to win and he also understands Havre and our region and also has great recruiting ties across the country," explained Oberquell.
