Argos Confident Moving Forward After Beating Top Team in Nation

Posted: Updated:

Any time you beat the best team in the country, it's a big deal. And for first year head coach Anthony Owens and his team, it was extra special.

"I think it was big for our program. Talking to everybody that's the first time that University of Great Falls has knocked off the number one in the country. Confidence wise our guys think they can beat anybody in the country so that helps them," said Argos head coach, Anthony Owens.

It was a great win for the entire UGF program but coach Owens isn't satisfied just yet, and his players know there's still work to be done.

"He's pushing us and making us everybody every day. That's our big thing - we want to get better every single day and he makes us do that, "said senior point guard, T.J. Harris.

"I think they know my mentality hasn't changed whatsoever. It was a win, it was a good win -I can't take anything from it but at the end of the day we still have to work and get ready for conference play," said Owens.

UGF's big win has turned some heads but still the Argos still enter conference picked to finish 7th out of 8 teams, which has given them more than enough motivation.

"We definitely have a chip on our shoulder. Anytime you get picked to finish at the bottom of the conference you have to. Our conference is very tough, one through eight so we have to come ready to play every night," said Harris.

"We're not looking to come in 7th. We're actually looking to win. Thats' our goal so we're going to keep working hard, keep playing hard and we're coming to come out victorious. We're going to win," said freshman guard/forward, Sigman Farmer III.

The Argos have shown they can win. They just beat the best NAIA team in the nation. So despite being picked 7th in conference, it won't be a surprise if they finish first.
